Editing Data with Data Views

Overview

Data editing is a feature available to Enterprise level users. Data editing makes it possible to adjust survey responses, delete outlying records, and perform basic dataset cleaning after upload to MarketSight.

It is important to consider that deleting rows will delete the entire record, not just the respondent's answers for the variables shown. Any modification to your data, once saved, cannot be undone.

Edit Individual Responses

  1. Create or load a data view that contains variables with responses you would like to edit
  2. Click on the cell with the response you would like to modify
  3. If you are working with a categorical variable, you will be presented with a list of value options to select from
  4. If you are working on a text or numeric variable, you will be able to type in the desired response
  5. Click OK on the edit dialog
  6. Click Save for the data view

Tag Text (Open-End) Variables

  1. Create or edit a data view that contains at least one open-end variable
  2. Click on an individual record to open the keyword dialog (note: if a keyword dialog does not open, contact Customer Service)
  3. Add keywords as needed
  4. Click Save to confirm
  5. MarketSight will add a new Multiple Response Variable to the dataset for your tags

Delete Records

  1. Create or load a data view that contains variables which enable you to identify the records you wish to delete
  2. Select the checkbox to the left of each record you would like to delete
  3. Save changes
